Oisin Hanrahan of HandyWilliam Shu of DeliverooKevin Gibbon of Shyp and Neil Rimer of Index Ventures were in discussion with Rohan Silva on Centre Stage. The topic of conversation was, of course, the on-demand industry.

Oisin has recently secured a funding deal of $50 million for Handy, the on-demand cleaning and DIY app.

On starting Handy, Oisin said: “We started three years ago with the idea that they way people buy things are broken and they way people buy services is broken.” Handy looks to fix this problem.

The panel agreed that the key to success for on-demand services was to focus on a postcode, and get customers in own area, before expanding:

“This is about liquidity and liquidity comes from density in areas,” said Oisin.

We’re looking forward to seeing how Handy grows in the future.
