“Science and religion are two different languages trying to tell the same story” – Dan Brown at Web Summit

Check the schedule to see what’s coming up at Web Summit.

Dan Brown’s fiction is often driven by the tension between science and tech and religion.

“Science and religion are two different languages trying to tell the same story.”

“What’s fascinating is that they are polar opposites in their approach,” said Dan. “Religions have not changed. they still look at the same texts that they did thousands of years ago. It’s self assured. It’s consistent.”

“Science, on the other hand is changing at a mind numbing speed”.

Despite all advances in science, religion is still going strong. Why? Dan has a theory:

“There’s something about the human mind that craves order and craves answers. The human mind craves the knowledge that it’s not all random.”

Even some of his atheist and agnostic friends say a prayer when their plane is on the runway.

His advice for creatives? “What I’ve come to accept is that the only way to be creative is to write that book you would want to read, you make that app that you’d like to use”.
