Here at Web Summit HQ, we’re reflecting on what was an incredible Web Summit last week. Thousands of techies, not to mention 21 colourful sheep, had an amazing and unforgettable Web Summit experience.

Web Summit was a whirlwind that wouldn’t have been such a success without the hard work and hustle of our volunteers. So to you, our volunteers, we say thank you.

We reached out to some of our volunteers to see how they got along.

Cian, who was on the team dedicated to all things social, told us about his experience: “My experience volunteering at the Web Summit over the past few years as part of the live team has been nothing but exceptional. The team, speakers, and staff I’ve met and connected with all happened because of the Web Summit. “I find people grow through the experience of meeting like-minded and inspiring people. This is something you cannot create, but have to undergo. This is how the future generation of entrepreneurs are built.”

We also heard from a long-time volunteer Marina:

“As a member of the Live team, you get to share your Web Summit experience with the world. Whether it be through tweets, Instagram pics or Facebook posts we are documenting the many aspects of the conference for all.

“Being at the events is such a buzz and getting to be part of the Live team makes it even better. I look forward to heading to New Orleans in April and maybe Lisbon again next year.”

Sally worked on the Speakers team. Here’s what she had to say:

“I had a fantastic experience as a Web Summit Volunteer this year. My role was speaker liaison, so I was working in the speaker’s prep area. I was working solely with the design, data and code stage which was really interesting.

“It was great to be on a small team which meant I got to make real connections with the people I was working with over the three days. Our speaker liaison managers kept everything calm during the day and were great points of contact to go to with any potential issues, or just for a chat!

“Being around the inspirational leaders and speakers in the prep lounge was exciting and I’d love to work closely with them again next year.”
